Gorth Carolina Town Struggles to Commemorate Andre the Giant with Appropriately Sized Marker
Officials reportedly baffled by scale, order multiple attempts

“We don’t do anything by halves, even if it takes a few tries to do it by wholes.”
In a heartfelt, yet surprisingly complex endeavor, the town of Gorth Carolina attempted to pay tribute to wrestling legend Andre the Giant with a roadside marker. However, the seemingly straightforward task quickly became a colossal undertaking when the first two markers ordered were deemed too minuscule to adequately honor the stature of the famed giant.
Town officials, with aspirations as lofty as Andre’s height, set out to create a tribute that appropriately reflected his legendary presence. Unfortunately, despite meticulous planning, the initial sign was only a fraction of the intended size. The officials immediately ordered a second, but it too fell short—literally.
“We knew Andre was larger than life,” commented town council member Leslie Smalls, whose name now seems ironic under the circumstances. "But no one really expected the enormity of that legacy to be quite so empirically challenging.” Demonstrating unwavering determination, the council voted unanimously to commission a third, more fitting tribute.
The size miscalculations were reportedly due to a series of typographical errors in the design specifications, combined with “the unforeseen logistical intricacies inherent in celebrating someone of such legendary dimensions.” Smith & Sons Signmakers admitted they misinterpreted the inch markers on the blueprint as foot indicators.
Undeterred, locals have suggested that an interactive exhibit may accompany the marker to ensure it adequately captures Andre’s legacy. An audio recording of fans recounting their fondest Andre moments could provide context, and a custom bench in gigantic scale is being discussed as an additional homage.
Residents remain supportive of the effort, embracing the spectacle as part of the town’s distinct charm. “Here in Gorth, we don’t do anything by halves, even if it takes a few tries to do it by wholes,” quipped Mayor Fiona Height, herself standing at 5'3".
Despite the oversights, the project continues to unite the community in laughter and pride. The unveiling of the next iteration of the Andre the Giant memorial is scheduled for later this fall—pending the arrival of appropriately sized hardware.
